info:HR MEETS CRITICAL NEED FOR ACCURATE REPORTING AT kidsLINK
Child welfare agency relies on info:HR functionality to introduce quality data management
Toronto, ON, January 27, 2011 – Licensing and accreditation from Ontario’s Ministry of Children and Youth Services is mandatory for a reputable child welfare agency like Kitchener-Waterloo’s kidsLINK. Demonstrating proper management of Human Resources data is just one of the many requirements that have to be met in order to complete the licensing and accreditation process.
“Accreditation is critical. We can’t operate without it,” said Eranga Peduruarachchi, kidsLINK Manager, Human Resources. “But our home-grown system prevented us from giving accurate data to managers. There was lots of manual effort. Our payroll link had never been implemented. It was time for a change.”
A software review process and a recommendation from another vendor led to the decision to purchase info:HR. The agency was pleased with the well-informed straightforward sales approach of the info:HR representatives and impressed with the breadth of functionality and user-friendliness of the product.
Like many not-for-profit service providers, staffing at kidsLINK is complicated. There are 100 permanent staff—union and non-union—and 35 relief workers across three sites. Employees in the Residential Program work shifts 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
“We are becoming really good at understanding the needs of community service organizations,“ said Andy Staniewski of HR Systems Strategies Inc. “Increasingly, we rely on expertise we have gained at other community agencies to help us understand exactly what new clients like kidsLINK need from their HRIS.”
While still in the early stages of implementation, kidsLINK is confident that info:HR will deliver on accuracy and reporting. The HR department is also looking at the online Timesheets module to automatically capture employees’ hours worked in info:HR and export the data to their existing payroll system.
“I am looking forward to seeing huge efficiencies for the organization,” said Ms. Peduruarachchi. “We are eliminating manual entries and tracking, streamlining three systems into one and giving managers access to the system so they can do their own reporting. I’m very excited about what’s to come.”
